On Susan Rice America’s ambassador to the UN

The ‘Guardian’ reports the US ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, as expressing “outrage” over the Chinese and Russians vetoing the resolution on Syria. Nothing surprising there but what almost makes you puke is the polemic that accompanies her “outrage”. Of course, we should not read too much into either this, or into her subsequent walking out on the Security Council. After all, she is someone who, less than a year ago, had the “chutzpah” to justify her veto of a resolution against illegal Israeli settlements by saying, “we think it unwise for this council to attempt to resolve the core issues that divide Israelis and Palestinians.”
Hypocrisy at its most naked”  according to Alan Hart and in saying that he too was thinking of how Rice has cast her vote on a number of occasions to support Israel and how she will use the U.S. veto to kill the Palestinians’ bid for Security Council recognition of their state. However, Mr Hart and the Palestinians can rest assured when it comes to being a Handlanger for her political masters in Washington, Rice has no particular prejudices.
Indeed, as a rising 29-year-old star in the National Security Council back in 1994 there is evidence to suggest that she knew of the impending Rwandan genocide. As Samantha Powers was to write in 2001:

Still, bearing in mind the above, we shouldn’t be too hard in condemning Ms Rice’s, rather selective concept of, humanitarian military intervention“. After all, she is only following orders and those orders dictate that she sees no contradiction between supporting Israel in its quest to literally destroy the Palestinian people, aiding and abetting  Kagame, Museveni, and Meles Zenawi as they wreak havoc in Central and East Africa and ordering military intervention to topple those regimes that do not play Washington’s geopolitical game.
Of course, if it is not hypocrisy then it is most certainly schizophrenia and one wonders if Rice and her ilk have very real personality disorders of the sort that Rudolf Höss the commandant of Auschwitz must have suffered from as he declared; “I am completely normal. Even while I was carrying out the task of extermination I led a normal family life … ”  Schizophrenic sociopaths with psychopathic tendencies, just hypocrites, or a series of individual cases?

There are a lot of poor bastards out there being used and abused; it is just not cricket "old bean". Something tells me that ignorance is not bliss, but is, in fact, simply ignorance and in the global village we cannot look the other way.
