Who’s Afraid of War Crimes Prosecution?

With Omar al-Bashir and Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa taking themselves off to Baghdad and Dick Cheney getting himself a new heart there is a direct link between the attached clip to two of today’s posts.  Nevertheless, that is not really what this is about and while the myopic masses, who have been manipulated by the manufacturers of consent, are unlikely to take the message in the report seriously, the less myopic and less manipulated among us might. Moreover, in doing so we could be that we are genuinely outraged by the crimes of Cheney and company.

Nevertheless, an effort to empathize with the real victims of these war criminals –  the families of the millions of dead and maimed – we might want to think a little bit further than our own outrage and our own conscience and in doing so we will realise that if there is enough reason for us to thoroughly dislike Mr Cheney and the assorted gallery of western rogues who have committed and continue to commit war crimes, then we can begin to understand why people from Baghdad to Botoga, from Pnom Pen to Port-au-Prince, from Kinshasa to Kandahar and from Tegucigalpa to Timbuktu, from Ramallah to Rawalpindi must hate them. Today’s little post on Cheney might have been a joke, but this man is certainly no laughing matter.

There are a lot of poor bastards out there being used and abused; it is just not cricket "old bean". Something tells me that ignorance is not bliss, but is, in fact, simply ignorance and in the global village we cannot look the other way.
