George Galloway and Ken Livingstone: A tale of two relatively harmless horny-handed sons of toil

There can be no doubt that our two horny-handed sons of toil, the ex-comprehensive schoolboy from south London and Labour’s man for County Hall, Ken Livingstone, and the man from an attic in a slum tenement in Dundee, George Galloway, share a number of things in common. Therefore, this is a short tale of Ken and George.

Firstly, there was George a couple of days ago being interviewed by Channel 4’s  Cathy Newman, and there was Cathy trying to avail herself of every opportunity to undermine him by spraying him with a stream of verbal diarrhea that had nothing very much to do with anything, and certainly nothing to do with the Respect Party candidate’s victory in Bradford West. Still, wasn’t George’s reaction, when he walked away after less than two minutes, just a little bit over the top?  Indeed, all the more so, when we remember that although people like Cathy might even deserve to be cut short, George has a tendency to do this with anybody who he deems not fit to listen to. In other words, anybody who disagrees with him.

Nevertheless, our horny-handed son of toil has been confronted, for some time, on a daily basis with this particular bourgeoise method of attack from the British establishment’s lackeys. Therefore, instead of resorting to a Glasgow kiss, he just got up and walked away. However, surely, that is a good thing and surely all the little establishment middle class mediocrities in the mainstream media might even see this as an example of George’s embourgeoisement. Yes, George is not a great listener, but wouldn’t Cathy’s verbal diarrhea have …. well, wouldn’t she have shit her pants if he had tried to chib her. No, the establishment should be grateful that he just walked away. That is progress, that is democracy, that is bourgeoise tolerance, and so much better to have George verbally rip a Rangers supporter to pieces on his radio show than try to plant a bomb in Ibrox Park.

Still, if our middle class mediocrities resent the success of that particular horny-handed son of toil,  just think how an upper class twit such as Boris Johnson must feel when one of them is coming to take his job. There was Boris on his way to the studio to debate with Ken and what does he do? He makes to hand him his coat as if to say that Ken would be more suited to working as a cloakroom attendant than as a candidate for County Hall. Anyway, things apparently got very personal during the debate, with Ken, not only accusing those who “accused him of tax avoidance of smears” but also asserting that “his Conservative rival used exactly the same tax arrangements as he did for the payment of media earnings”.  Now, there is evidence to suggest that Boris then lost his cool and frothing and foaming, or at least,  “red-faced” went “nose to nose” with Livingstone, told him three times over: “You are a fucking liar.” “Nose to nose”, “red-faced” ….. oh, there has got to be a Glasgow kiss in there somewhere and Cathy, you should at least thank your lucky stars that George didn’t go “nose to nose” with you. Or, should you, might it not just be that big upper class twits and mainstream manufacturers of consent are always a lot more dangerous than horny-handed sons of toil, even successful ones with a slight, albeit understandable, chip on their shoulders?

There are a lot of poor bastards out there being used and abused; it is just not cricket "old bean". Something tells me that ignorance is not bliss, but is, in fact, simply ignorance and in the global village we cannot look the other way.
