Well, we all live in our little bubbles, don’t we? Here is ego sitting in his golden cage, in just hunky-dory land, where the major problem appears to be not whether he eats, but how can he stop eating those, recently discovered at AEZ, McVitie chocolate digestive biscuits? Not that he is impartial to German sweeties but having eaten sweeties here, there and everywhere, the evidence would appear to suggest that it is the British ones that are particularly addictive. Midget gems, sportsman’s mixtures, fruit salads, and, yes, the biscuits ….. the list goes on, and on, and on.
Still, back to the bubble and just as you can now find British biscuits all over Germany and beyond and, of course, German sweeties and stuff all over Europe and beyond, we get other things entering our bubble from elsewhere. Reality shows such as ‘Big Brother’ for instance, and unlike British biscuits which are addictive and bad for your health, the British version of ‘Big Brother’ is just bad for your heath. Your mental health that is! Of course, that shouldn’t imply that the German version is any better. In fact, let us be honest, ‘Big Brother’ is a lot of shit. Nevertheless, having said that, it does allow us a peek into how your average Brit, or German, or whatever, thinks, or, should I say, doesn’t think and most certainly your average Brit and German do not discuss politics. Well, not on ‘Big Brother’ anyway.
Therefore, on being directed to a clip of the Israeli ‘Big Brother’, I was pleasantly surprised to see at least one contender offering arguments against the occupation, even if some of the other contestants opinions appeared to demonstrate that ‘Big Brother’ really can represent a bubble within a bubble. However, then I stopped and thought and I put one foot outside my own little bubble for a moment, and in doing that the realisation was that this is a discussion that shouldn’t even be taking place, and what other shit are Israelis having stuffed into their heads? After all, while the guy who is arguing against the occupation appears to recognise that it is both brutal and illegal, some, not all, of the other inhabitants of the ‘Big Brother house’ just don’t get it. Of course, we should be telling all of them that there are no arguments for an illegal occupation and that the real discussion that should be taking place is one where the raison d’être of the state of Israel itself is under discussion. Anyway, a little insight into the bubble within the bigger bubble in that not too far away place where the Zionism meets Absurdistan, Watch here with English subtitles …..
…….. In the meantime back to my own bubble, and I have just discovered that the other half is persisting with that habit where she hides all the sweeties from me.
