The plot thickens and it might just be that Gu Kaila, Bo Xilai’s wife, was having an affair with Neil Heywood. Apparently, she shared an apartment with him in Bournemouth and a Chongqing insider, Wang Kang, has told The Times that there was “a definite’ romantic attachment between Mr Heywood and Mrs Gu”. Nevertheless, while it is stated that Mr Wang was well-known in Bo Xilai’s inner circle, no evidence is provided at this point in time that he was privy to this type of information.
Nevertheless, with someone observing Neil Heywood pinching Gu Kalia’s bottom, and with the same Neil Heywood often being observed leaning out of the window in the “Bournemouth love nest”, there might be something behind the assertions. Of course, if there is, where is that going to leave the “money transfer” as a motive? Well, Mr Heywood wanting a bigger share of the cash might have been indicative of a certain insensitivity vis-a-vis his one time mistress, and it could ultimately have contributed to what might have been a crime passionnel.
Well, if that is the case, Gu Kalia may be wishing that she had fallen for a Frenchman in France and was now in custody there and her husband could just be wishing that he had got a divorce, while his rivals and enemies will be rubbing their hands that things are turning out the way they seem to be turning out.
