This is an informative follow- up to yesterday’s post. Paul Jay from Real News interviews Nii Akuetteh, an Independent Africa policy analyst and researcher and the former executive director of the Washington, DC-based group Africa Action.
Interestingly, while he does believe that the United States would like Omar al-Bashir removed and a more compliant person in power in Khartoum, he doesn’t think that Obama is too happy at the South Sudan starting a war which it ultimately cannot win. Even if, the extent of the hypocrisy which Washington is capable of is revealed is by the fact that Omar al-Bashir’s generals were cooperating with the C.I.A. in Iraq at a time when the Sudanese president was already being demonized by the Bush administration.
Fortunately for Washington, Mr Akuetteh does seem to have reservations about Omar al-Bashir’s carrrying out his threat of an all out war, despite the rhetoric coming out of Khartoum.
