Mitt Romney has won Wednesday’s first presidential campaign debate with “some 67 per cent of those surveyed by CNN in a “flash poll””, declaring him the winner. The debate itself was interesting enough to send Craig Murray to bed after just thirty minutes. Nevertheless, with Craig apparently having already concluded before the debate that Obama is firmly in the neo-con camp, it might be asked why he wasted 30 minutes of his life on watching this drivel?
Moreover, it is not just, what Mr Murray refers to as “lack of any divergence from a neo-liberal economic model”, that should have us worried, it is also a lack of divergence in any foreign policy goals. However, with Obama not yet having actually launched an attack on Iran, there are many who are itching for the more gung-ho approach of a slightly more articulate version of George W. Bush in the person of Mitt Romney.
It is with that in mind that the news from ‘The Independent’ that:
“Nearly half of those who contributed to the hawkish Israeli premier’s political campaigns also gave money to presidential candidate Mitt Romney or to the Republican Party, underscoring the shared common ground
between the two men.”
Yes, the attack on Iran might just be speeded up a bit after the next American elections and it might even bring us a little bit closer to Armageddon. That’s all folks!
