Interesting little comment in the Morning Star, “Time to bury new Labour” we are told before the author of the article tells us who exactly the representatives of “new Labour” are. In referring to the party’s strongholds in the north of England he goes onto say, “The Miliband brothers, Tony Blair, Balls, Yvette Cooper and Peter Mandelson are among those parachuted from the metropolitan in crowd into these rock-solid Labour fortresses.” Yes, wouldn’t it be a wonderful development if party members were to elect one of their own?
Yes, hapless it is, but not quite hopeless, even when we look outside the pseudo socialist party. For even if, Liz Windsor and her family still sort of rule the roost, and even if, Cameron, Clegg and a motley collection of public schoolboys run her government, it is not quite as bad is it can be. And the news from a little island today is that ….. well, its a bit like waking up one morning in a post independence Scotland and discovering that everyone in the government is called MacDonald and that the MacDonald family rule the country. No jobs for the Campbells anymore.
“Al Khalifa factionalism” is the news from Bahrain and we get to read a story about a good king and crown prince pitted against a not so nice premier. The story of the ultra-conservative Khawalid faction and a reform willing King. But wait a minute, something doesn’t quite fit here …… I mean everyone , who is anyone, in the government is called “Al Khalifa” and so back to Liz Windsor and her family, the two Millibands, Cameron and Clegg and …. well, that really isn’t quite like the MacDonalds running the show in Scotland and I can tell you something, if that were to happen, don’t be surprised if they were to torture a few Campbells. But, hey folks, whatever happened to democracy?
