The United States, murdering and spying

The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, asks Obama, if her phone is being bugged, he assures her that it isn’t and never has been, while almost at the same time attempting to reassure Nawaz Sharif, the Pakistani Prime Minister, that Islamabad’s concerns regarding Afghanistan will be addressed.

One of Pakistan’s main concerns is, of course, the drones that are killing innocent men, women and children; “if there is one person they’re going after and there are thirty-four (other) people in the building, thirty-five people are going to die”. Die they do, time and time again, but this was one issue that Obama choose to ignore.

Nevertheless, Chancellor Merkel and Prime Minister Sharif should rest assured that their countries are not being singled out. Indeed, rather than talking to the criminal it might be better for them to get in touch with some of the other victims. Therefore, might I suggest that Mr Sharif gets on the blower to the Presidents of Yemen and Somalia, while Merkel does the same and have a little chin-wag with the Presidents of Mexico, Brazil and France.

The Presidents of Yemen, Somalia and Pakistan might then sit around a little table and consult on sending the criminals to the ICC in the Hague, but then I am forgetting, the criminals are sitting in Washington and the ICC, according to the American government,  has no jurisdiction over American citizens, and anyway, with the NSA listening in on every word of their conversation, you could, no doubt, expect dead or disposed presidents in Saana, Mogadishu and Islamabad in the not-too-distant future, if they decided to pursue the issue.

No, let’s delay going for the jugular and begin by getting international law applied in other areas. Therefore, the hope has to be that the Presidents of France, Brazil and Mexico, and the German Chancellor are already having talks.

There are a lot of poor bastards out there being used and abused; it is just not cricket "old bean". Something tells me that ignorance is not bliss, but is, in fact, simply ignorance and in the global village we cannot look the other way.
