It has left me wanting to check up and see if it is normal for a British Chancellor of the Exchequer to take such an active interest in British foreign and defence policy. Still, there will be a united front on George Osborne’s message that “dealing with the escalating refugee crisis meant tackling President Bashar al-Assad’s “evil” regime,“ with David Cameron announcing that he hopes to be bombing Syria within a month. This then is Osborne’s “tackling the root of the problem”, “his getting engaged to achieve stability”? The mind boggles and I am reminded of the little adage, “bombing for peace is like fucking for virginity.”
Of course, it is even worse than that for not only are Osborne and their ilk partly responsible for the creation of the ISIS “, but also any bombing of Syria is intended, as the Chancellor himself admits, at targeting Assad’s “evil regime”. It might be suspected that these idiots are unaware of the fact that the power vacuums, and the resultant chaos, they are creating is causing the massive refugee crisis we are confronted with at the moment.
However, this is “Realpolitik” of the lemming variety. With no real economy worth talking about and aware that their last throw of the dice is the total control of the planet’s natural resources, they have nowhere to go …. and on, and on, Syria, Iran’s on hold, and well they already have the scapegoat for Russia!
